I’ve recently just launched PhotoMerchant – a Software as a Service application deployed in the cloud, offering Photographers a cost effective and simple way to design and manage their own website and photography business. It’s a pretty comprehensive tool that aims to compete with the likes of SmugMug, Zenfolio and PhotoShelter but we have plans to make it the killer app amongst professional photographers.

I’m one of three directors who have been working on it for over 3 years and between us all, we cover all the cornerstone requirements of the business. Derek Clapham is the Technical Director and apart from conceiving the idea, has built the entire thing (pretty much) on his own. Elmar Platzer is the Operations man, supplying the financial forecasting, business management and motivational aspects of the business. I’ve been responsible for all the design based elements; UI design of the application, website, and published websites, email marketing, video marketing, social marketing and blah blah blah. Visually, this baby is mine, but together, we’ve developed an application which is really robust, is easy to use, is scalable and had incredible potential to take on the world. To say we’re happy with it is an understatement.
