Whilst waiting for the film “spiderman3″ to start in Los Angeles, theatre goers played a version of Breakout as a group. By waving their arms in the air and by swaying from side to side, the audience was able to control the direction of the paddle on screen. The “Newsbreaker” game is a combination of the classic “breakout” atari game but releases news headlines as bricks are broken. An interesting game in it’s own right, the combination of augmented reality and crowd interaction makes for the perfect marketing effort, appears to be quite fun and simple to play.
